Porch and Patio Party

Welcome to The Porch and Patio Party hosted by Barb over at http://gritsglamour.blogspot.com/. Be sure to check out all the Porches and Patios over there. This should be exciting. I love the outdoors when theres a nice breeze blowing and the sun is shining and flowers are blooming.

OK, here we go. We will be redoing our back patio pretty soon. I would love a cover porch with a sitting area and outdoor curtains around it. We may also use concrete instead of wood. We are still deciding about that. But here is what we have for now.

As you can see we have a pretty large area for our patio, but I think the space can be used better, thats why we want to change it and update. This area does not get a lot of sunlight, so its pretty hard to keep a lot of flowers alive here. But our ferns usually do great.

Here are our patio doors. This is where we want to put a cover and sitting area.

This is where we have our outside meals.

I also love to decorate the walls outside, this is beside the patio doors.

We also have a side patio. This is where most of the flowers are, we get more sunlight on this side.

We have tried a couple of times to have a small garden in the back yard with no luck, hence no sunlight back there. So this year we decided to try a garden in a pot. We have tomatoes and banana peppers right now.

See the tomatoes we have coming already. Can't wait for fresh tomatoes.

Here are a few of my flowers blooming right now.

This is what I have for now. Its been raining most of the day, I was afraid I was not going to get my pictures. Things will be fuller as the summer comes. Be sure and go visit Barb and check out more porches and patios. Everyone have a great party. Debbie

  1. This will be a great space. So much potential! You'll have to keep the ferns. Every porch needs ferns. Thanks for sharing your pics.

  3. Debbie - wow that is some back patio. It is HUGE! I know you are excited at the propsects of getting a covered porch. I long for one, too. Susan at Between Naps is my inspiration. :-)

  7. Love your outside space, it's beautiful!

My dh was just saying how his favorite plant indoors would be ferns, but I think they'd look great outside more like in most of the blogs I've seen today. ;-)

  8. I can easily see that as a covered space.

BTW, the only reason I got my pictures made yesterday is because my porch is covered.

  12. I think container gardening is the "in" thing this year. Your backyard patio area has a lot of potential. I love your ferns. At least you have a side patio so that you can enjoy flowers. Thanks for sharing.

  13. I'm impressed by those tomatoes! Ours are just little seedlings that we haven't even planted in the garden yet. Yours look great! :)

  15. What a great area-so much space. Your ferns look so lush and pretty, and love the veggies planted in pots. I want fresh tomatoes so badly, but the squirrels get them before they ripen, so I've given up. Your bakers rack looks so pretty with all of the flowers blooming on it. laurie
