Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. This is the most wonderful time of the year. I haven't had much time to blog the last few months, but I had to be included in this. I love Christmas. Of course, first and foremost it is my Jesus' birthday celebration, but it is also magical. So you have to have lights, lots and lots. I'm joining in the Holiday Home at Layla's showing you my mantel for christmas this year.

I'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves.

The TV is new this year, so I had to do it differently, but I love the way it turned out and change is always good.

Thats what I have for now. Hope to put more christmas pictures up soon. I'm also linking to Kim's party at Savvy Southern Style. Check it out.

On another little note about my grandson. I received a christmas present early, probably the best one I have ever received other then his birth. Just a little recap. Back in February, Nathan got meningitis, which did not do his heart any good. In July he had another heart catheterization to open the blockage that it caused. When he went back to the cardiologist a couple of weeks ago, we found out it worked, so not another open heart surgery. What a gift and a blessing. Thanks to everyone that has prayed for my grandson, it is so much appreciated. There will be obstacles ahead, but just taking one hurdle at a time. Here's a little eye candy of my grandson.

Summer and Weddings

My daughter and her husband just celebrated their 4th anniversary this year. The day of her wedding was such a magical day for her and for us. This is Nathan's mommy and daddy, they have come along way since then. Here are just a few of the wedding pics from that day. I hope you enjoy.

How I Met My House....and lovin' it

I'm joining the party for How I met my house at Our Surburban Cottage with AnNicole. Be sure and check out the other stories of meeting their houses.

I am truly in love with my house. Anytime I tell my story of how we were able to get this house, I still get chills. You see, the Lord gave us this house, and to this day, I love everything about it. We work on it, and make it our own everytime we change something, but if I couldn't change anything, I still love it. Now my story......

About 8 years ago, me and my husband and our 5 children were renting a 3 bedroom house. We were running out of room because our kids were BIG kids now....4 were teenagers.....anyway, we started praying for a house. One that would be perfect for us. There were several things I really wanted, which was a fireplace, a kitchen island, and plenty of room for the kids.

I prayed every night, and I asked specifically for what I would like....the Lord said to ask, right?....so, a friend told us about a house that her cousin had that was available. It was a foreclosure, so we started checking into it. To try to make this story a little shorter, we put in a bid. I really didn't worry about it because the Lord told me this was the one. When we looked at it, it had the fireplace, the kitchen island, and rooms for the kids. It also had a patio, which I wanted, but didn't pray for because I didn't want to be greedy.

The first bid fell through because it changed hands on who was selling it. So we had to put in another bid. We did and waited again. I had become very patient at this time, because I just knew it was ours. Well, about a month later, we get the call......someone outbid us. I was so confused because I knew what I felt and what the Lord had told me. The Real Estate agent told us to start looking again, that we would find the perfect house. So, that day I started driving around looking for houses that would meet our needs and be the perfect house for us. After about 2 hours I couldn't look anymore...I was frustrated and disappointed in what I saw. So on the way home I started praying, I said Lord, I don't understand, I thought I knew what you wanted for us, I don't know what to do, you will have to drop it in our laps.

I go home, unlock the door, the phone is ringing. I answer, it was the Real Estate agent......the other offer fell through......YOU GOT THE HOUSE. All I could do was start crying and saying thank you. The Lord gave us the perfect house.

It's as real today, the feelings of that day...and to know that we are where we are meant to be.

Lightening the Mantel for Spring

Hi everyone. I know I've been missing in action, but life is always around, I'm sure you all understand what I'm talking about.

I wanted to join in with Kimba at A Soft Place to Land to show my Spring Mantel. I was feeling the need to lighten things up around the house, so I took my dark print down and did something completely different. It totally lightened the room up. I hope you enjoy.

WHIRLWIND!!

What a whirlwind we have been in the last two weeks. Nathan got sick.

We have always been told to keep him out of major places like Walmart, Church, and many other places....and we have. Thats why we were shock that he got so sick.

Last Saturday, out of the blue, Nathan started running fever. It went from 99.4 to 102.8 within 5 minutes. I put him in a bath water, running water all over him for about 2 minutes. I took his temp again, it went down to 98.6. The nurse said if he continued running fever in the night to bring him in the next morning. Which we did.

Because of Nathan's underlying heart condition, we have to be careful and check everything out, thus having a chest xray, blood drawn, urine sample, you get the idea. We were there for over 3 hours. Finally results came back, he had a little pneumonia in his lungs and a urinary tract infection. Doctor gave him a shot of antibiotic, and we are on our way home.

Just minutes after we left, my daughter notice his arm was moving funny, she got in the back with him and his leg was also doing the same thing, he wouldn't look at her or didn't even seem to hear her. I turned around and went straight back. The doctors office is at the hospital. I dropped her off at the door and I go park. The doctors are already gone so straight to the ER she went. By the time she got down there he was limp. Luckily there was a nurse there to take him back. I got there and they were already working on him.

He had a seizure. To make a long story short. He did not have a UTI, but the pneumonia had gone to his spine and turned into meningitus. He was admitted to the hospital and started antibiotics. Now they did not know it was meningitus till 3 days later. The blessing in disguise was they were giving antibiotics for the UTI which was automatically helping the meningitus. There was no swelling or anything. Praise God. He is feeling good again and will be in the hospital till Sunday for antibiotics then he will come home.

What a whirlwind two weeks.

Not perfect pictures

Hi everyone...I've been missing for a while I know, but you know, life.....

Anyway, I received a new camera for christmas, and I definitely need to practice some more on it, but I love it already. I also received this portrait of my grandson for christmas. My favorite gift. I love pictures of my family, its like getting a million bucks in my book.

Nathan will be 1 year old on February 12. So hard to believe....so I made him this banner to celebrate.

We are still waiting to see if his heart will start growing with him.....that is our prayer, if it does grow, no more open heart surgeries. Please keep him in your prayers, I would be so grateful.

Another reason I have not been on here much, is because there has been several things going on around here. First, a very good friend, that I have known for almost 35 years, lost her husband...he was 51 years old. That was very hard.

My aunt is fighting colon cancer, we have hope and faith that everything will be fine when everything is done. Her surgery is on Feb. 22, please keep her in your prayers.

And finally, a very good friend of mine is battling breast cancer. The bad thing is the type of cancer she has is reoccuring, and there are cancer cells in other parts of her body. She's taking chemo right now and then will take radiation for the breast cancer after that. She's having a hard time taking the chemo, please keep her in your prayers also.

Merry CHRISTmas!!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far with preparing and getting ready for christmas. Decorating, baking, shopping, and wrapping all the presents.

Enjoying watching my grandkids and seeing things through their eyes. So magical!

But the true meaing and the reason for this season is that our Precious Savior was born. This is the magic that I teach my grandsons.

So to everyone out there in blogland, I wish you a very Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year too.

Home for the Holidays!

This time of the year is so special to me. First of all, I know why we have this season to begin with. Jesus is the reason for this season! He is #1, and the special birthday that we celebrate. I also love the decorations to see all over. I love the sparkle and beautiful things to see. Thats why I'm joining in Rhoda's Home for the Holidays. This is what I call my Mema tree....she is no longer with us, but these are the ornaments that she used every year, with a few from my children that they made.....

Being Thankful

This is such a special time for me. I love this season and time of year. I guess the older I get, my emotions about this holiday changes. Yes, I love the smell of turkey cooking, the coolness in the air, the shopping and even always having something to get done. But, the word says it all...Thanksgiving......oh, I have so much to be thankful for.

I have five wonderful children that make me so very happy. My mother is still with me, how she still can calm my soul. I have the most wonderful husband in the world, and to know that he loves me is priceless. I have 2 grandsons that I adore and 1 who beat the odds...answered prayers.....my life is so full. But the one thing I am most grateful for is that my Lord exists and he is always here for me.

I hope everyone has a great time with family and friends during this holiday and can say that there is something you are thankful for. And also take this season to bless someone else. I truly wish each and everyone a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Halloween everyone. Sorry its a bit late. It's just so hard to post sometimes. Just wanted to post a few pics of my grandson. My other grandson, Christian, doesn't live as close to me, so I haven't got any pics of him yet, but he was Thomas the Train. Thats his fave. Nathan is very close to me, so of course I have pics. He wasn't able to do traditional trick or treat yet. He's still not able to get around a lot of people because of all the sicknesses going around, but he can come to granny's.

Doors of Welcome!

Hi Everyone! I'm joining in with Karen at Some Days Are Diamonds. She is having Doors of Welcome. This is the first part in a three part series. Go check out all the participants on her sidebar. What a way to get inspiration for fall.

It has been raining so much around here till it has been hard to get pictures. This is at night, but I think you can see inspirations of fall. I still have a couple of my summer flowers blooming out front too. They are doing so good, I hated to move them.

See the betina on the pot. I bought those new, and the green has already begun to grow to make them look like they have been there for years.

Now who could be scared of the smile on this scarecrow?

I spray painted white pots black to make these, but they were still a little small, so my DH made these stands for a little more presence. From the road you can't even tell.

This is a simple wreath that I put together with just some leaves. But I have to say it does look like fall. I'm thinking of painting my door black. Any suggestions?

Update on Nathan and Thrifty Finds

Hi everyone. Its good to be home, but I can't wait till my grandson gets home too. If all goes well, he will be home this weekend, if not, I'll be making another trip to Birmingham. I'm having big time withdrawals not being able to see and hold him. He is in a private room as of today, out of CICU, so his mommy and daddy can be with him all the time now. Love that. The surgery went well. They did not have to do the procedure that they were suppose to do on this, his second open heart surgery. When he was first born, the doctors said his 4th ventricle would probably not ever be used. Hence, the 3 surgeries to bypass everything for his blood to flow. But......the 4th ventricle has grown some and now they feel like it can be used. The next 3 to 6 months will let us know more, but we have witnessed a miracle. What they are telling us now, he could have a normal 2 ventricle heart, which is like you and me. Nathan is a miracle in my eyes in many ways. I appreciate all the prayers that everyone has prayed for Nathan. I thought you might would like to know what the Lord has done for our family.

I just had to share these pictures of his first day at the hospital....

This one is actually at the hotel the first morning before the heart cath. He loves to sleep like this.

He couldn't have anything to eat after 2 am, so we tried to keep him asleep so he wouldn't get hungry.

These next 2 pictures I just love. They gave him something to relax him and so he wouldn't care if he was hungry. The nurse said it usually knocks babies out and kids just get silly. Our baby got silly.....

NOW, ON TO THRIFTY FINDS........................... I haven't been able to post because of being in Birmingham so some of these are from a couple of weeks ago too.

The centerpiece at the table is a good will find. I got them in separate pieces and put them together. The mirror was a gold frame and I used my trusty spray paint to give it a much needed face lift. The glass cloche me and my honey made. It was a type of sconce, large one at that, and my husband found the wooden thing, which turned out to be a rod holder, spray painted it out the same color as the frame, and now I have another cloche...love it.

Here's a close up..the mirror was $3.00, and the sconce was .99, wooden topper .49.

The garland with the cream balls, I got at good will still wrapped in the package, brand new. I got 2 of those. $2.00.

I also got this garland brand new in the package.

The green almost feels like ceramic, so neat.

This pumpkin for .50 from Pampered Chef, still in the box.

And lastly, this bowl also for .50. For some reason, I found a lot to decorate for fall. I love the fall season.

The verdict is in.....

We got the news we have been waiting on. My grandson will go back for his next open heart surgery....NEXT WEEK. He goes in on the 15th for a heart catheterization and then on the 17th for open heart surgery. I'm asking for all prayers to go up for my grandson and his mommy and daddy, and for me. This will be hard because we won't get to hold him for several days. I pray that everything goes smoothly and they are home before we know it. Here is a picture at his last cardiologist visit.

He weighs 16 pounds now, which is great. He is healthy other than the problem with his heart. This will be the second procedure needed for his problem. His last surgery will be when he is 1 1/2 years old to 2 years old.

It's Party Time!!

Hi Everyone! It's been awhile since I have been able to post. But I knew I was ready for this party. ROOSTERS.....Love them. So, I'm joining the party with everyone else with our great host Barb at Bella Vista. Go over to her site and check out all the rooster lovers. Here's a few of mine.

My first two pictures, I'm really proud of. I'll have to add these to a thrifty find post later. Found these Gibson Royal Rooster set at Goodwill for $12.00. I looked them up on line and 1 plate is $6.99. Love these.

This one reminds me of the heaters my grandmother had when I was growing up, I bought this at a yard sale. Just couldn't pass it up.

This was my very first rooster. My mom bought this for me, and I've been hooked every since.

The lamp is from my sweet husband.

Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my birthday. Happy birthday to me. I love to get things for my home at any occasion. I have been looking for a cloche forever. They are hard to find around here.

I was in one of my little shops that I love to browse in and came across these. Just the cloche. I bought the plate from GW for .99 and it fit perfectly with the cloche. But what is better than one of these.......

Two of these.....ha.....you had to buy the pair. These are from my husband and bestest friend.

This is a close up of the plate...it is a huge plate, about 13" in diameter. The cloches are large too. I just love them.

I've also been seeing these large jars around blogland using a coffee cup for the scoop. I just love, love this look. My youngest gave me this for my birthday. I already had the cup. My kids think I'm so funny, but they indulge me anyway.

I received some money for my birthday too, so I'll have to go shopping soon to see what else I can find.

So this is Happy Birthday to me!!

Isn't He Adorable

Got a little milk drool there, but he is adorable. My grandson is doing wonderful...he now weighs 11 lbs and 7 ozs. He is now 4 1/2 months old. He is such a JOY and I don't know what I ever did without him. Mommy and daddy took him to his cardiologist today, found out he will probably go back to Birminham in September for his next surgery.

Since he's been home from the first seven weeks of his life being at Birmingham, I tried not to think about him going back for the next surgery, but it's sorta hitting me in the face. I know my Lord is with us through all of this difficult time. I know that he will be back home again. I know the doctor's say that everything is routine and has been done many, many times. But not on my grandson, and the fact that I have loved on him as many times during the day as I want and able to hold him and feed him. This will be very hard to see him lay there again, with a ventilator, having open heart surgery again, probably swelling again. I could go on and on. I'm sorry that this sounds so down, but I'm really dreading this time.

I'm asking everyone to please start praying for Nathan now, that everything goes smoothly, that we are not there for seven weeks this time, only a couple of weeks. Pray for my daughter and son-in-law, that they can stand strong during this time. But most of all, that we remember who is in control of everything that goes on with Nathan, and that we give it all to him to take care of.

Nathan is doing wonderful at this time, and we knew there would be another surgery. We expected this to come. To look at him and spend time with him, you would never know that there is a problem with his heart.

The main purpose of this surgery is to put another shunt in to bypass the 4th ventricle since it is still not wanting to work. It still could start working along with the pulmonary valve starting to grow, but we may not see that till he's 3 or 4. I'm just so glad we have come a long way in technology that they can do things like this to keep is heart pumping the way it should.

Finds and changes

I am so excited about this find. I have been looking for a rug for under my dining room table for a while. I really am a frugal shopper, I try not to pay full price for anything unless I absolutely have to....so when I found this rug at a yard sale Saturday, I was estatic. The rug is 9 x 11 and fits perfectly under my table and the colors are perfect. And the best part.....it was only $20.00. Of course no camera can make anything look exactly how beautiful it is, at least my camera doesn't, but here it is.

Well, that's my thrifty find for the week, but I think its a good one.

Now, this is a thrifty find I found a couple of weeks ago and transformed it a little.

I think the difference speaks for itself.

Thrifty Finds

It's that time again for showing your thrifty finds. I love thrifting and yard sales and the whole adventure of finding something you didn't even know you wanted until you found it. Rhoda is hosting this party at Southern Hospitality, be sure and check everyone out there.

I found several things that I changed up a little to make it what I wanted. This first one is for cheese, but I made it into a small cake plate with dome lid.

I found this piece for .39 and glued it to the bottom. I think it held tea lights.

I have been looking for a gravy bowl that was large enough and just the right look to use at Thanksgiving. I found it for $3.00. I love it.

I remember seeing this collection a while back, I don't think they sell it anymore.

All these frames were new at $2.00 a piece. I'll use these in my hallway, I'll show that later.

A boppy for my grandbaby. These are $40. and $50. It looked new, in very good condition. Freshened it up...not bad for $3.00.

And last, fall is my favorite time of the year, this is a rather large pumpkin and I love these colors.....$2.00

Today's Thrifty Treasures

Hello everyone....I'm joining Rhoda at Southern Hospitality Today's Thrifty Treasures. Rhoda has some great things, so be sure and check her out and all the other participants.

I have only one thing that I found at Goodwill this week, but its a good one, I think. Rhoda should appreciate it because she does collect them. You can see I only paid $2.00.

I know its blurry but I believe you can still tell its a Bordella piece.

I couldn't believe I found this at Goodwill. No chips or nothing. It is in perfect shape.

Here's the detail of the strawberry on each end. I've never seen anything like it before. The platter is about 12", so its a substantial piece.

A Little Sunshine From my Day

Hello everyone. It's been a little while since I have been able to post. Just real busy. On Wednesday thru Friday, I keep my little grandson Nathan. I haven't showed any pictures of him lately so I thought I would post some. He is growing so fast. There was a time in the hospital, for about 2 months, he didn't do much growing at all because of the surgeries. But he's trying to make up for lost time. He is 3 1/2 months now and weighs 9 lbs and 12 ozs. Thats still 1 lbs less than his momma weighed when she was born..ha. Anyhow, here's a few shots of the little one.

He is smiling now, and every once in a while my camera will catch that. I just love this one.

They are all cute when they are asleep, right?

Here's my youngest holding him, they were taking a nap together....so precious, don't you think?

And here's his mommy holding him the same way, didn't even realize I had the same picture of both of them.

And this one was at the hospital for a test, we were waiting to go back and I snapped this. Mommy and Nathan were looking out the window. I love pictures that are unpredictable...they turn out the best.

And last but not least by no means...at a Doctors visit with mommy holding him..

There seems to be a endless visits to doctors and different test. But it is slowing down a little now. At his last cardiologist visit we were informed that his next surgery will be within 3 to 5 months. I really dread this one. I know that the Lord will still be with us to get us through this one more time, but we have fed him, held him, loved on him whenever we wanted. It will be so hard to see him like before. I can't really explain it, other than I love this little booger (if that's how you spell it..ha) so much.

Anyway, just a few pics to show you how he is doing. I'll keep you posted as things progress.

Show Us Where You Live Friday - Dining Room

Welcome to show us where you live Friday. It's Dining Rooms today. Be sure and check out Kelly at Kelly's Korner for more dining rooms.

Our dining room is an open room which flows into the kitchen and can be seen from the family room, which I love, because you can be with all the action no matter where you are in those areas. The first shot is looking in from the family room.

It's a large table that sits 6 but we can sit up to 10 if we had to. Having the barstools right there is nice too.

This is my hutch that I put a lot of my serving pieces in along with my china cabinet.

See the spice holder my DH built on the end of my cabinet. I told him what I wanted and he built it. He comes in mighty handy.....lol.

This is one of my favorite wall lamps that I have in my dining room. Of course it has a rooster on it.

Today's Thrifty Treasures

Good Monday Morning everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I sure did. I was able to spend time with my Mom and my children, also my brother was here. It was a great day.

Today, however, is Today's Thrifty Treasures hosted by Rhoda at Southern Hospitality. Be sure and check out the other thrifty treasures at her place. Here are a few things I found this weekend. Me and hubby made a day of it together.

First, I found this pitcher/vase, could be used for either.

My husband and youngest daughter added roses for Mother's Day. This was on the table when I got up. My daughter arranged it. She was so proud.
Here's a close up of the vase. I love the shape. We paid $3.00 for it. It's about 16" tall. Nice size.

Next, I found this candle stick. It's like 24" tall, looks a little shabby chic, but I fell in love with it. Only $1.00.

Lots of detail work in it also.

We also found this small lamp, that can be used as a nightlite in a bathroom or kitchen. I will probably spray paint it and of course add a shade. Only .50

Show Us Where You Live - Family Room

Ok, here goes...This is looking in from my dining room. The basket under the table is made out of banana leaves. I think thats amazing. My floor is black and white ceremic, but one day I will get hardwood floors. I have a large rug over most of the living area for softness.

This is my fireplace flanked with bookcases, which I love. I display a lot of family photos because they are the most important to me. I have a few small diddle daddles on there too. My opening to my fireplace is so large, I thought I would never find a fireplace screen to cover it up. I found this one at Pottery Barn on sale, love it. Over in the left hand corner you can see a little rocking chair for my grandsons. I'm waiting to get a picture of my whole family at the beach for over the fireplace.

This is my couch that I got at one of my favorite little shops. I love the high sides. You're looking into my dining room/kitchen.

This chest I got from a yard sale for $75.00. It is cedar, and it was her grandmothers. I couldn't believe she was selling this. I fell in love with it. I wanted something to put blankets in and use for extra seating also. This fit the bill.

This is my snowbaby case. I've been collecting these for a while.

My patio doors that lead out to the patio that is shown on another post. The one thing I want to do in here, other than hardwood floors, is crown molding. My husband will be doing that very soon.

And this is my computer armoire where I do all my posting. I would show you the inside but I wouldn't want to shock anyone.....lol....maybe at a later date.

Well this is my family room that I thoroughly enjoy everyday. You see this house was a gift from God. When we seen this house is was everything and then some that I had been praying for for 2 years. It became a foreclosure, went through the offer and then they decided to turn it over to another lender. So we bid again. We were outbid and my realtor told us to start looking for something else as soon as possible. To make a long story short, that same day I went looking just to see what I could see. NOTHING! I said, Lord, you are going to have to drop it in my lap, I don't know what to do. I was walking in the house and my phone was ringing. It was my realtor, she said "You got the house", the other one fell through. Talk about dropping into my lap. We have been here for 6 years and I love my house. Thank you for listening, I just thought I had to tell my story.

Porch and Patio Party

Welcome to The Porch and Patio Party hosted by Barb over at http://gritsglamour.blogspot.com/. Be sure to check out all the Porches and Patios over there. This should be exciting. I love the outdoors when theres a nice breeze blowing and the sun is shining and flowers are blooming.

OK, here we go. We will be redoing our back patio pretty soon. I would love a cover porch with a sitting area and outdoor curtains around it. We may also use concrete instead of wood. We are still deciding about that. But here is what we have for now.

As you can see we have a pretty large area for our patio, but I think the space can be used better, thats why we want to change it and update. This area does not get a lot of sunlight, so its pretty hard to keep a lot of flowers alive here. But our ferns usually do great.

Here are our patio doors. This is where we want to put a cover and sitting area.

This is where we have our outside meals.

I also love to decorate the walls outside, this is beside the patio doors.

We also have a side patio. This is where most of the flowers are, we get more sunlight on this side.

We have tried a couple of times to have a small garden in the back yard with no luck, hence no sunlight back there. So this year we decided to try a garden in a pot. We have tomatoes and banana peppers right now.

See the tomatoes we have coming already. Can't wait for fresh tomatoes.

Double Whammy

Hey everyone! Today I am joining in on two parties. One is Metamorphosis Monday with Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ and with Rhoda for Todays Thrifty Treasures at http://southernhospitality-rhoda.blogspot.com/.

This first one could actually count for both because I bought them at a yard sale for .50 a piece. Here they are when I bought the picture frames, one was green, one was blue and one was red.

I took my trusty black spray paint and gave them a facelift. I love using black in every room. So after I sprayed them, I inserted my pictures and put them on a plate holder I was no longer using and there you go.

That is my Metamophorsis, so be sure and check out Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch for more changes.

Now for a couple of Thrifty finds that I found this weekend. First is a cake plate that I found. I collect cake plates, any kind, any size. I love, love, love them. So when I came across this one for $5.00, I had to get it. It was still in the box, brand new.

Don't you just love the filligree on the side. So pretty and dainty. And look below, it came with a server.

I was real excited about this find.

And finally I found this pitcher. I'm a little partial to pitchers too, but don't have as many of those as I do cake pedestals.

I love that its white and the shape is simple, but I love the handle, it looks like a vine and has a grape leaf attached.

Thrifty Finds

Hello everyone! Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is hosting a new party this week. I, like everyone else at this party, loves to go to yard sales, thrift stores, and just all out big sales. Heres a few things I have found in the last couple of weeks. We are redoing my daughters room. I will have more pics once we are completely through. But so far, we've been pleased with the results.

The first thing she needed was lamps. I found this one at a thrift store just up the street from me. It was a horrible brown/bronze color. Not very attractive at all. Sorry, I forgot to take a pic before. I do that sometimes. I painted it a nice shade of pink, which is the color we are adding to go with the green in her room. It looks totally different now.

For the other side of the bed, I found this little table that was perfect for a nightstand for only $6.00 at a yard sale. I haven't painted it or anything as of yet. Still deciding if I need to or not. I had the other lamp and spray painted it to match the thrift store lamp, then got coordinating lampshades.

Here is a pic of the two lamps together, what do you think? Can we get away with it? We might get the letter L monogrammed on the lampshades to bring them together even more. What do you think?

Lastly, the comforter was a find at Dirt Cheap. Its a small thrift store, so to speak, but usually its hand-me-downs from other stores like Target, etc. The comforter is a Martha Stewart find for $20.00 brand new. The pillows are from yard sales that I had put up for several months. I thought they went with it nicely. The pillows were .50 and $1.00 a piece.

Whats on your wall Wednesday

I'm joining Barb at http://gritsglamour.blogspot.com/ for Whats on your wall Wednesday. This is the first time I have joined this party, I thought it would be fun. Of course I love pictures of my family first and foremost but I love decorating, period. So, heres just a few things for this first Whats on your wall.......

This is one of my favorites....my daughter's wedding picture. This picture was in the brides room on an easel. It now hangs in my family room.

And these are my favorites of the other three.....these still live at home, also in the family room.

My fireplace is one of the favorite things in my family room. When we first moved in about 6 years ago, I loved magnolias, still do, but I would love to put a family picture at the beach there.....

I love to decorate with plates, as I have seen other bloggers love that also, these were a christmas present a couple of years ago, I love these displayed in my kitchen...

Of course they are roosters too...a definite plus!

And last but not least.....this was a present from my oldest daughter when we moved in...it just needs some more things around it, I'm just not sure what I want to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It's also in my kitchen.

My plate is full this week

Hey guys, Sorry its been so long since I posted, but with my grandson home, I've been helping out my daughter as much as possible. Also, this is Spring Break for my children. You won't believe this, but yesterday, me and my husband took our youngest daughter to see the Hannah Montana movie, yes, my husband went too. We all loved it, no kidding, it was a really good movie. I guess you just never know till you try. Anywho, tomorrow we will go down to Gulf Shores for a day of fun. It's suppose to be a beautiful day again tomorrow. I will be back in a couple of days. We are redoing my daughters room, so I'll have some pics later this weekend hopefully to show you. Have a great week and here's a few pics of my grandson to keep you entertained......

I've noticed a lot of us girls out here in blogland have roosters. Well, I am no exception, I love roosters. Here is my favorite that my mom gave me several years ago. It has a little red on it.

Next, this is the rooster lamp my hubby got me. Most of the time I just have to suggest that I want something, and he will do his best to get it for me.

Changing the use of things

I did not start this blog just for the birth of my grandson, but it just happen to start up at the time where he was the center of everything. I thank you for listening to me and praying for him at this time. He will be coming home soon, hopefully next week and I will let you know as soon as he does.

But now that things are a lot better, there are a lot of other things I do like to talk about. Like.... decorating, trash to treasure, shopping and just about anything you can think of. I would like to start with this for now. I found this at a yard sale one early Saturday morning, of course it was not black and needed a major cleaning where it had been sitting in a corner somewhere for who knows how long.

I spray painted it black, love that spray paint, and believe it or not, I found some round red candles at a yard sale still in the packaging to put in them. I've got this hanging in my foyer right now, but my mind started running ninety to nothing.

The word is cloche. I love them, don't have a one, so I thought about it. They are very hard to find around here, but I'm hopeful. With my mind whirling I took one down and turned it over and voila.....there was a cloche. But I needed something to put it on. See, its not very big but oh so cute. So today I was going around to some of my favorite shops and I came across this......

The lady said it was suppose to be a margarita glass but the hole is so small and its not very tall. I was thinking this might work perfect for a pedastal for my cloche.

And it fit perfectly. I paid $2.00 for this and I think it looks great. Now I have to find something to decorate with inside of it. Any suggestions? I would love to find a little birds nest to fit in there with some little eggs. I'll keep looking till I find the perfect thing! I have two more of those little cloches too. Debbie

The light at the end of the tunnel

Nathan is so close to coming home. He's feeding from a bottle really well. The main thing now is that he starts gaining weight. They upped his calories to make up for the calories he is burning by feeding himself instead of a tube and also being held burns calories. Wish that was true for us as adults, the weight I could lose...lol. Anyway, hopefully he will start gaining instead of losing, that is mainly the last step for him coming home. Brandi was able to dress him for the first time a couple of nights ago. Here is his first outfit she put on:

She bought newborn, washed them and thought these may be too little. When she put them on, it swallowed him. He's only 6 lbs right now. He was born weighing 6 lbs 6 ozs. He had gotten down to 5 lbs 9 ozs. After she fed him, gave him a bath and dressed him and wrapped him up he fell right asleep. Look at my angel.

~We've come a long way baby~

Nathan is doing better everyday. Its so wonderful to be moving ahead instead of backwards. The Lord has been so good. My daughter has been able to hold him again after two weeks of not being able to. I can here my daughter in her voice again, if you know what I mean. I was talking to her last night and she was telling me all the good things that were going on, and she said "Mom, I love him so much." It just brought tears to my eyes. We probably talk 3-4 times a day. She has wanted to be a mom. He's now on room oxygen, he still has a picc line in, probably till he gets to a room where they can stay with him. She should be able to feed him tonight or in the morning with a bottle if he continues doing good.

They say he won't even hardly have a scar. He's getting closer to coming home...woohoo!!

This has been a journey that we never expected, but it has made us stronger in many ways, including our faith. There may be other trials along the way, but we know through God we can make it. I want to thank everyone again for your prayers and thoughtfulness. Debbie

OFF THE VENTILATOR

Nathan is off the ventilator!!!!!!!! That is one step closer to him coming home. They are still trying to get his lungs stronger, so we continue to pray for that. He is sucking his pacifier, so he must be ready for a bottle. They dip his pacifier in sugar water and he just loves it. He is still on a little oxygen, but as his lungs get stronger that should come off. I know this is all I'm blogging about right now, but its hard to think of anything else right now. Recovering but......

Well, I have been home for a couple of weeks now, and my baby and her baby are still at UAB. The doctors have said that Nathan is on the road to recovery, but he still has a ways to go. One thing that kept bothering us was the fact that he still has fluid on his lungs. Last night they finally figured it out. There was something in his heart that was punctured when he had his surgery. They told my daughter that this was very common because the heart is so small. There is a special formula that they give him instead of breast milk. The formula is not as strong as the breast milk so it doesn't work this area as hard so it has time to heal. If the formula doesn't work then they have a medicine to try. If both fail, there will be an additional surgery to repair it. Please pray that it will be healed without any additional surgery. Hopefully he will be getting the ventilator taken off this week and start feeding by mouth next week. They will probably be there another three or four weeks. We have the flu going around at my house, so I can't even go visit right now. Even with all this, I praise my Lord, and I thank him for everything he has already done. Debbie

First Baptist Church in Maryville, IL

I write my new post today with a sad and heavy heart. My cousin Paul is a youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Maryville, IL, where a man came in the church with a gun and a knife and went to the pastor and shot him. He did not survive. Several of the men jumped him and brought him down, a couple of them were injured also. Paul is devastated over this as is the congregation. He has taken this very hard since he seen the whole thing happen. I am asking prayer for him and his family and the people of this church. There are people in route right now headed there to help them in this time. It is so good to know you can count on God's people in whatever problem comes our way to be there and help in whatever way they can even if it just praying, which prayer is not taken lightly at all. Everything is Beautiful

I hope everyone has been enjoying this beautiful weather. I'm sure not all has had it, but its coming. Spring is near and my grandson is getting nearer to being home. Hopefully just another week or so. He had lost down to 5 lbs 9 ozs after being born 6 lbs 6 ozs, but he is gaining again. Still nothing by mouth but we hope that changes tomorrow. It has been a slow process with him, with several different setbacks, but he is very strong, he is already showing whose boss. I will keep you posted how things develop. People are amazing, even the ones that know nothing about you. If they hear there's a problem, they will pray. Its a feel good kinda thing. Thats where the brothers and sisters in Christ comes from. Thank you, thank you everyone who has prayed for my grandson and continue to do so. I can't say thank you enough. I don't have any updated pictures as yet. But when he gets home, watch out. Someone wanted a pic with his grandma, so here it is.

Joy Comes In The Morning

Today has been the most fabulous day ever. We finally got the news we've been waiting on and I have been smiling all day. The Lord is good! Nathan's shunt is working. They will take him off the ventilator tomorrow and start feeding him. This will be the first time anything has gone through his mouth. The doctor said he is on the road to recovery. I want to thank everyone who has prayed for him and said kind words and thoughts. Nathan has shown everyone that he is the boss. I knew he would be anyway. They will be at UAB for another week or so, but he should be home soon. Isn't that wonderful news? Brandi and Neil are finally breathing a little easier, as is his grandmother.

While we have been at UAB, there are many babies with heart problems and had heart surgery, but with multiple other problems. There was one that had 7 other problems and they were told she wouldn't live past a year. It was so hard just to go through heart surgery with Nathan, but God revealed so much to me through this time also. I praise Him that his heart was the only problem Nathan has. It could be so much more, so I thank God right now for my precious grandson and I praise him....amen!!!! Thanks again and I'll keep you updated for the HOMECOMING!!!

Hanging in there

We are still hanging in there. The last few days have been more of a waiting period. The swelling on the outside of his body has come down to almost normal. But there is still fluids on his lungs, which has been a problem from the beginning. The surgeon wants to wait for the fluids to clear up before he puts the other shunt in. He's thinking later in the week or the first of the next week. If he cannot make it that long and they have to do it sooner, the surgery will be riskier. I am asking prayer now for the fluids to clear up so that there will not be a problem with putting the shunt in by going in his side. If they do it sooner they might have to go through his chest again. I will have to be honest here, we have been so blessed through our lives, this is probably the most trying time any one of us have been through.

My grandson is so special to me already. He was two weeks old on Thursday. My daughter is so ready to be a mother. My heart aches for her. She longs to hold him again, but until after the next surgery, that will not be possible. So she touches him and talks to him whenever she can. He knows our voices, and when he is not medicated he moves and tries to open his eyes. My prayer is that the fluids decrease, and they do the surgery through his side to put the shunt in. I ask for all your prayers for this also. Please pass this along to anyone you know that will pray. Through God all things are possible. Thank you, Debbie

Update on surgery

Sorry its been a while since I've been able to post. I'm still at UAB. Nathan had his surgery on Tuesday. The surgeon said that his surgery was successful in a lot of ways. The shunt that they put in is not doing what its suppose to do. He is swollen right now from everything that he has been through. They are taking a day or two to drain the fluids, then check the shunt again, its not getting enough oxygen through his blood, if it still is not working, they will put another shunt in. These have been some very trying days. I'm trying to stay composed for my daughter, but it hurts to see her hurting and to see my grandson like that. Don't get me wrong, my daughter is a trooper and is holding up very well, I am so proud of her and Neil. I ask that you continue praying for Nathan, and that we can continue to be strong too. He is a fighter, and he keeps everyone on their toes. I'll update again as soon as I can. Thank you all so much. Debbie

~A little Tour~

Hey everyone. Today has been a pretty good day for me. Nathan is doing wonderful while waiting on his surgery. They took him off the ventilator yesterday. He loves laying on his stomach now. I'll be going back to UAB on Monday so I will get more pictures of him. His surgery is still scheduled for Tuesday morning. I am so thankful for all the prayers, please continue to keep him in your prayers. If there is no major setbacks, he could be home in 5-10 days after the surgery. Heres a few pics of his room he'll be coming home to.

Another Update

We have a change of plans again. They have postponed Nathan's surgery till Tuesday. He has a slight infection from having fluids on his lungs. Another small setback, but his vitals, numbers and anything else they are watching look good. Thats a praise. Just pray that this infection goes away so he can have his surgery. This has been such a hard day knowing he was having open heart surgery tomorrow and now its not happening. I just had to stop and say "God in your time." I just had a peace about it and felt much better. There are lots of emotions I've been feeling, but that sums it up a lot. Thank ya'll so much for your prayers and concerns and please continue keeping us in your prayers. Debbie

Update on Surgery

The doctors have Nathan's surgery set up for 7:30 in the morning. They expect it to take about 2 1/2 hours and they give him a 95% chance of survival of the surgery. I will take that. I will go up early in the morning for the surgery and will be there till I know he will be fine. I will try to update from there with my daughters laptop. Please pray specifically in the morning that the surgeons will have the steady hand to operate on my grandson. I don't know how I would make it without God right here with me and my family.

The surgery will consist of them putting a shunt in. With the catherization and balloon not being successful, and since they will have the heart right there in sight, they will put a dialator in his pulmonary valve to puncture the hole that he needs for the blood to flow. If that doesn't work then they will use a patch. All of this is hard to understand. Its very terrifying to think about. But he's so strong, you can see the fight in him already. Brandi said he was opening his eyes again last night, his eyes are a little swollen from the medicines he is taking and because of his heart condition, which they say his normal, but he keeps trying. Doesn't my daughter look so happy. This was before the first procedure and before the ventilator.

Please pray as I travel early in the morning and the surgery. Thanks so much. Debbie

My precious Nathan

We have had a lot going on since coming home Sunday night. Here is some updates and please keep praying. We still have a long way to go. Monday was the heart catherization and balloon which did not go as well as we were hoping. They took him in Monday at 1:30 p.m. and we did not hear anything until almost 7:30. I was a nervous wreck. They said the procedure would last at least 2 hours and up to 3, but it was 6 hours. The valve was too small for the balloon. While they were in there the doctor seen a blood clot, which if it went into an artery or the lungs it would be fine, but if it went to his brain he could have a stroke, seizures or possibly die. They started giving him blood thinners not only for the clot but his right foot, which is the leg that they went through for the procedure, it started turning blue. When my daughter called me, it was very hard to contain myself. My friend took me back to UAB right then and we stayed at the hospital all night waiting. I am thankful to say he made it through the night and that is very good. His vitals and tests that were taken all day yesterday, Tuesday, all came back good. The doctors were very happy with results. One hurdle over. They took him off the blood thinner last night and they will take him off the ventilator today if all goes well. This morning early they had to put him back on the blood thinner because his foot started turning blue again. Please pray for that. His open heart surgery is scheduled for Friday, but if he is not off the blood thinner, I don't believe it can be done. We are taking baby steps at this moment, but he is worth every moment.

Brandi doesn't want any pictures of the ventilator so here is one before the procedure. Please keep Nathan, Brandi and Neil in your prayers. I thank you so much for everything so far. There are churches and people everywhere praying for him and I believe in that. Debbie

~IT'S A BOY~

We have a beautiful baby boy. Nathan Tyler was born on February 12 at 6:07 p.m. weighing 6 lbs, 6 ozs, 19 3/4" long. Today he will be having a heart catherization and a balloon to see if they can widen the valve that is needed for the blood flow. Please keep him in your prayers for this procedure. If this works, that will be the major part of anything they will have to do. Praise the Lord! I was able to be in the delivery, and that was the most precious and special thing I have ever witnessed in my life. Isn't he gorgeous?!

We are getting ready!! UPDATE included

Well, we got the word yesterday after Brandi's doctors appointment that she has started dialating. The doctor doesn't want her water breaking, if it does she will deliver down here and then send the baby to UAB by ambulance. So the doctor wants her to go up a week earlier. We will know more today exactly when. I'll keep you posted. Her original date was Feb. 23, now we are looking at next Monday or Tuesday. I have been doing so good, but when I heard that I just started to cry. I am so ready for Nathan to get here, but I'm anxious, nervous, and excited all in one. I guess I can't take but one at a time. Anyway, Brandi is totally excited and is definitely ready.

Isn't she adorable? Please continue to pray for us as we go through this journey, especially Nathan.......The Lord is good! Debbie

UPDATE

Brandi and Neil leave in the morning for UAB for a amnio to see if Nathan's lungs are ready. If so, she will be induced Thursday. If the lungs are not ready, it will be the first of next week, but they will stay up there until he is born. I'm not able to go up there, I'm waiting for when they actually deliver him, because I still have 2 in school. I don't want them to miss too much school. As soon as we know, we will all be up there. I'm on pins and needles because I want to be with her the whole time, pray that I can maintain to be a mother while I'm waiting...lol....I'm ok, I will make it (trying to convince myself)....thanks so much. Trash to Treasure

Well I finally got my trash to treasure ready to show. I mentioned a few posts back that I was working on something, but I had to wait for my dear husband to get home to help me finish it. This is what it looked like before, of course I had already taken the mirror out, and the hooks were half falling off, so they are already gone. I got it at Hobby Lobby for, get this, $6.99, regularly $79.99. I love a bargain.

Not very much to look at but I love the size and detail of it. So I got out my trusty can of black spray paint and went to spraying. I put the mirror back in and bought new hooks. The hooks were hard to screw in, so my husband did that for me, after numerous times of me trying to get it in myself. With no luck I might add. But I think it took on a whole new look.

And then my husband hung it for me in the foyer. I love a mirror in the foyer for a last look going out the door, also the hooks can come in handy when needed.

This is my first transformation. Let me know what you think. I love transforming anything for the better. Even myself when necessary. Debbie

My Baby is having a baby!!!

I am getting soooo nervous. Brandi's inducement is getting closer. I am so ready to see little Nathan and see what the Lord will do in his life. But it also terrifies me too. Is this normal? We have been so blessed in our family to have healthy babies, so this is so new.

Brandi and Neil have some friends who are having a baby, there is a problem with their baby's heart too. She was suppose to go in on the 10th to be induced in Birmingham also. She started having contractions last night. She went to a local hospital here, and today they took her by ambulance to Birmingham to have the baby today. Brandi is so worried this will happen to her also. We need to be in Birmingham for her to have the baby so the cardiologist will be there.

The crazy girl moved her baby bed the other night to get a sheet on. I told her, "Thats a good way to go early". She said, "I didn't think about that. And its one of those grow with you beds, not the lightest thing. Now my daughter is very smart in book sense, she just lacks a little of the common sense. I don't think she'll be doing that again.

I try to keep myself busy, when I don't think about it, my anxiety level stays down. Just pray for me too as we get through this. Because MY BABY IS HAVING A BABY!!!! What an amazing concept..lol...I will make it though. Maybe this will help me lose some weight or at least some fingernails. I will keep you updated. Thanks and God bless, Debbie

UPDATE: Brandi's friend made it to Birmingham to have the baby, but her husband and parents didn't...she was alone. Brandi was upset, she's afraid the same thing will happen to her.
I gotta keep remembering...God is Good....all the time. D

My youngest daughter had her first dance Saturday night. It was an exciting time going shopping for her dress, getting her toes done, fixing her hair, doing her make-up. Wow, its hard to believe she is growing up. I always loved doing girly things with all my girls, starting with Brandi and going through all of them. Lauren, being my last one, it seems to be going much faster with her though.

My Thoughts

I love going through all of my blogs that I love to read. It takes a while as you all know to do just that. This afternoon as I was reading more for the day, I was in one of my favorite ones, Davene @ Life on Sylvan Lane. She is pregnant with her fourth child. If you haven't read hers, go visit, it will be a treat. Anyways, as everyone knows that reads my blog, that my daughter is pregnant with her first child. I know I have been quilty of using that same response when someone would ask me, what would you want her to have, as in boy or girl. I have responded with I just want him or her to be healthy. I've never really thought about that response in the way that Davene described it, but I see what she is talking about. We do know that there is a problem with baby Nathan's heart, my daughters baby, but to be in this situation does not change the fact of how much this baby is wanted, is loved, and we can't wait till he has arrived. There are so many people who cannot accept that fact that there is something wrong with their baby, and do the unthinkable like walking out on them from birth. That breaks my heart.

I know when they wanted Brandi to have an amnio, they said it was to know if there was down syndrome involved, or if there were any other problems, so when she delivered they would know what they needed for the delivery. She struggled with rather to even have one because it didn't matter to her, this was her baby, her child, her miracle that she had prayed for. When you as a mother, watch your grown child, go through emotions, trying to figure out the right thing to do for the right reasons, and when your child goes through it with faith, grace and the most beautiful attitude that you could ever witness.......it brings tears to my eyes at this very moment.

Exactly three weeks from today she will be induced. I don't know if I can contain the excitement that is surrounding me. When your baby is having a baby, thats a totally different feeling then anything else. We still don't know what the problem will be with Nathan's heart exactly, but we know the Lord is in control, and however the Lord sees fit, rather he will be completely healed, or there will be surgeries that Nathan will have to go through, it is all in his hands and what God wants to come out of this. Whatever happens... To God be the Glory!!!

On a little different note, I want to thank Dot from Picket's Place for teaching me how to do a link. I love learning something new. Thanks so much Dot.

Supermom???

Its been a few days since I've been able to post. Busy, busy, busy when you are a mom. I'm trying to learn to do a little of it all. Maybe that puts me in the category of Supermom...lol....I've got a ways to go. But I try.

I've been working on a little project. As soon as I get through I'll post and let you see. With my dear husband on the road right now, its a slow process for me, but I will get it.

We are getting a little anxious for the 23rd of Feb. to get here. I know it will be here in due time. Please continue to pray for Brandi and Nathan that everything does go as smooth as possible. I so wanted her first pregnancy to be a memorable event, (which it still will be), just a little more so I'm sure. But we are looking forward to it, and we know that the Lord is in control of this very situation. Can't wait to see what the Lord actually has in store for us. I know that may sound crazy to some. But when you know that the Lord can do miraculous things, you expect it. Whatever the Lord brings our way, please Lord, help us to except and deal with it.

Its amazing how getting on here and telling your thoughts just makes you feel a little better about your day and how you handle it. Thanks for listening! Debbie

Just a thought

Today is a wonderful day. Not that it is any different then any other day, but it just feels good. Theres so much going on in my life right now. We're waiting on the birth of my grandson, which that alone is an amazing thing, but my daughter Mandie is a senior this year. Anyone who has ever had a senior graduating knows what I'm talking about. This is my fourth one to graduate and I have one more. Lauren is in the seventh grade so I have a little while. Thank goodness. The empty nest syndrome is yelling at me. I'm so glad grandchilren are next, that should keep me busy for a while. Although, Lauren will keep me busy too. She loves sports. Between volleyball and basketball games and practices, theres a lot of running around. I remember when all my kids were little, my husband and I thought that we would have forever with them being little, but to our dismay they did grow up. But we are so proud of them. Brandi went to college and became a CPA. Brandy Kaye lives in California. Michael is going to college to be an electrical engineer. Mandie my senior this year, wants to be a teacher. When you look back at the years of ups and downs, its amazing to see your family thriving and being the best that they can be. It makes a momma proud!!! Thanks for listening. Debbie

Just A Little Update

Please continue praying for Brandi, Neil and little Nathan. We go on the 23rd of February to induce Brandi. We are expecting a miracle, but whatever God sees fit for our little one, we know that he is in control. It has been a roller coaster ride for Brandi and Neil. Being first time parents can be very emotional as it is. Having this unknown factor added on can make it a little more. I talked to her last night and told her about little Harper and how Kelly's faith is so strong. I am pleased to say that as of right now, she feels very strongly in her faith and I know that it is because of all your prayers. Thanks for everything and I know that this will be a journey we will not soon forget. Debbie

Our Precious Nathan

Hi you guys. Well, we went yesterday to talk to the cardiologist and the team that will be delivering my grandbaby Nathan and taking care of him. The meeting did not go as well as I wanted it to. We were quite overwhelmed at everything they were telling us, because now we know more and what our precious little one will have to go through, unless God sees fit otherwise. When Nathan is born, they will have to do a heart catheterization to see exactly what they will have to do. We know there will be a surgery to put a shunt in about 2 days after he is born. The main problem that they see is (of course I don't know all the techinical terms) the fourth chamber of the heart has blood flowing in but there is nowhere to flow out into the lungs. Right now his momma his supplying everything he needs so he is safe. But the moment he is born they will have to give him medicine to keep something open in his heart till they can do the surgery to treat it. They say its not fixable but treatable. I am very happy about that. According to what they find he could have 1-2 surgeries more until the age of 3 to correct everything. He may also have to take medicines the rest of his life. I can live with anything they may have to do, I just want him to come home. The doctor gives an 80% chance of everything being ok. Its not 100% but its a lot. All this information was so overwhelming for all of us, but we know we are so blessed and we expect a blessing from this also. I ask for all your prayers that our precious little one will be totally healed, of course I'm expecting a miracle, or that whatever God's will is will be done and we bring our little one home. We will have to go to Birmingham for the delivery and they will do the surgery there too. We live in Mobile, so thats a little out of our comfort zone. I am so looking forward to my grandson getting here and I know this will be a blessing from day one. Thanks for listening, and I will keep you updated. Debbie

My oldest daughter is pregnant and she is due on February 27th. You always hope for a easy pregnancy and that everything will be ok, but about 3 months ago, our world stopped for a little while. We did find out that she is having a boy and his name is Nathan Tyler. Brandi and her husband had to go to Florida to get another ultrasound because there was something they were not sure that they were seeing. To make it as simple as possible, the 4th chamber of the baby's heart was not developing. That broke my heart because my daughter has looked forward to this pregnancy for a while. Well, they started throwing all sorts of things at them about needing to deliver in different cities, downs symdrome, other complications and so on. First time parents know so little about having a baby and being parents as it is and then throw all this other on them, it was very overwhelming for them. To make a long story short and for the good news, they ended up doing a amnio (which she was not sure she wanted to do at all), because the doctor really wanted it, and everything came back fine. There will be a surgery after the baby is born to correct the heart, we go Jan. 12 to talk to a cardiologist and find out all the details. Yes, she may have to deliver away from home, but as long as they take care of our sweet baby Nathan, I'm for anywhere. Please keep Brandi, Nathan, and the whole family in your prayers, that everything will be fine. And I also expect a miracle, because I know God can do it. I'll keep you posted as we find out more.
